Aim

People may be exposed to various contaminants in 
the workplace. A sound understanding of
how people get in touch with these contaminants, 
how these substances enter the human
body, and what effects they have is essential for the 
daily work of occupational hygienists. In
this module, students learn to evaluate health risks at 
the workplace.


Upon completion, students will be able to:
– Find relevant information in literature and websites
– Determine where a biomonitoring survey is 
required
– Evaluate potential hazards and risks of known and 
unknown contaminants

– Health effects related to specific occupational 
exposures
– Dermal and respiratory health effects
– Biomonitoring
– Identification of relevant literature and databases
